El Camino Reelers: LGBT Square Dancing in Silicon Valley

Looking for a good time? Learn to Square Dance with El Camino Reelers!

Our 2016-17 Beginner class started Wednesday September 14.

Classes are Wednesday nights from 8:00 to 9:30 pm. at St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Palo Alto. Caller/instructor Rich Reel will have you on your feet and dancing to basic square dance moves. It's fast, it's fun, it's flirty!

Casual dress - Come solo or with a partner - No experience required

By Christmas you'll be able to attend dances for beginners around the Bay Area. By the end of February you'll be able to square dance at the Mainstream level, not just with El Camino Reelers, but practically anywhere in the U.S. and Canada! And by the end of May you'll be comfortable dancing Mainstream in more complex positions and will be dancing at the Plus level.

Wednesday club nights will start with an hour of full-Plus level dancing for experienced dancers ("angels") from 7:00 to 8:00, followed by the beginner class from 8:00 to 9:30 with a full-Plus or A2 star tip at the end of the evening.

Lessons are really like a dance party. You'll be having fun the whole evening with a bunch of new lesbian, gay, bi, transgender, and straight friends. Learning is the fun of square dancing!

Rich Reel's Beginner Class Teaching Order

We use the General Dance Program (GDP) teaching order to get dancers up and dancing more quickly. The link above takes you to a PDF document showing the order in which Rich teaches the calls.
